Primary abnormalities of the erythrocyte membrane lead to a variety of clinical syndromes, including hereditary spherocytosis (HS), hereditary elliptocytosis, and related disorders.1 Clinical and laboratory manifestations, as well as associated molecular defects, of these disorders vary widely.
